Owners

The Swedish Cement and Concrete Research Institute AB (CBI) is a subsidiary of SP Technical Research Institute of Sweden (SP). The company is 60 % owned by SP and 40 % owned by the foundation called the Swedish Research Institute for Cement and Concrete at The Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. SP is owned by The Ministry of Enterprise, Energy and Communications through RISE Holding AB (Research Institutes of Sweden Holding AB).

A foundation has no owners but principals. They are the Consortium for the Financing of Fundamental Research within Concrete, CBI’s Members’ Association and The Royal Institute of Technology.

The board of The Swedish Cement and Concrete Research Institute (CBI)

The board, including the chairperson, is appointed by the annual general meeting through proposals from a nomination committee on which both of the owners are represented. The board has the following adjuncts: MD, a representative of each of the local trade unions called the Swedish Association of Graduate Engineers and the Unionen, a representative of The Royal Institute of Technology and, where appropriate, The Swedish Cement and Concrete Research Institute (CBI)’s auditor. The board normally meets four times a year.

The board of the CBI foundation

The Swedish Research Institute for Cement and Concrete at The Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm (“The CBI Foundation”) has three principles:

  • The Swedish Consortium for Financing of Fundamental Research in the Concrete Field (the Consortium)
  • CBI’s Members’ Association
  • The Royal Institute of Technology (KTH)

The Consortium has three members, CBI’s Member Association two members and The Royal Institute of Technology one member on the CBI Foundation’s board and the same number of deputies.

The board appoints its own chairperson and deputy chairperson. Members and deputies are appointed for a period of no more than three years. The board adjuncts are the MD and, where appropriate, the CBI Foundation’s auditor. The board normally meets four times a year.
